ballsCoaching? Which Sport?

Although I am a former competitive athlete and enjoy watching nearly every sport, I am not a coach in a traditional sense. Margaret Moore, CEO and Founder of WellCoaches, offers the following summary of what we do”The health coaching profession has evolved out of necessity due to the new era of consumer directed healthcare which calls upon consumers to take charge and become the masters of their own health and well-being.” As a licensed, certified WellCoach, I can help you build self efficacy and gain mastery of your health and well-being. As a coach I work more with what’s getting in the way of you finding time to shop and cook and plan meals better. Instead of giving you the answers, I’ll partner with you to create an inspiring vision with a plan to bring you to that vision. I am passionate and energizing in my commitment to help you be your best…to live your life with high energy, a clear focus and a positive and confident outlook. My mission is to help you be your own boss of health and wellness. Another concept that is unique to coaching is that all sessions are all done through telephone and e-mail technology.

New Year New You

New yearIn just a few days the media, news and TV will ring in 2008 with all sorts of information on diets, gadgets and gizmos to get you into the best shape of your life. The message that “first we lose and then we feel and look better” is misleading. We need to exercise and eat smart FIRST to feel better, with the bonus of looking better along the way. Our typical solution to resolving problems or challenges is to get into action to fix the problem quickly. But what happens when we join in on the pressure from others to take action so quickly? Could we possibly be making the wrong decision ???? Would taking some time to think through the situation and then responding allow us to make fewer mistakes? Our response in acting quickly and thinking later sets the stage for the “ready, aim fire” syndrome we so commonly experience. As you reflect upon the past year and look to the new, take some time to think about your answers to these questions:Why now? What’s different about me or my circumstances that indicates that it’s genuinely time to change? It’s important to recognize that change is a process. Action is part of that process, but not the first step to change. By looking at change through the stages, you’ll discover that being successful at making lasting change will become a natural habit that will open the door to new and more exciting habits year after year.
